| At
some
point
in
the
relatively
near
future,
we
would
like
to
offer
this
page
to
members
as
a
place
to
buy
or
trade
Björk
related
items.
However,
before
we
are
able
to
provide
this
service,
there
are
several
issues
we
need
to
work
out.
These
relate
directly
to
protecting
our
members
from
fraud.
There have been disturbing reports lately of people trading or selling Björk merchandise and not abiding by honest standards. In some cases people have lost their money completely. While we are anxious to begin using this page, we do not want it to be used to rip off our members or the Björk fan community at large. Below are some of the procedures we are considering using when we implement this page. If you have any suggestions or feedback on this issue, please send them to mystory@bjorkclub.com. Before allowing someone to post items on this page We are considering having some type of screening process before we allow people to sell or trade items on the page. This might involve asking the seller for references from satisfied customers or asking people on Blue Eyed Pop and similar sources if they are familiar with this person. We can also require that anyone selling or trading items on the site provide proof of their address and contact information with the club, so that if any dishonesty does take place, we can provide this information to their local authorities. The one drawback to these methods is that they require more work on the club’s part to maintain, but we will do these things if we think it will protect our members from people with less than noble intentions. Once someone is allowed to post items on the page We could have some type of system similar to that used on eBay, in which members provide feedback on transactions. We could also make it clear if a trader is new by posting their "approval" date. If a complaint or dispute does arise There are several courses of action we can take, depending on how involved we decide the club should get in this. In the US, we could take it upon ourselves to report the complaint with both seller’s and buyer’s names and contact information to the appropriate state Attorney General. Alternately, we could provide a list of contacts for the buyer to reach the Attorney General of the appropriate state themselves, with the club acting as a witness should the authorities wish to inquire. Outside of the US, we would have to determine what authoritative governing body would be appropriate to inform. If a complaint is confirmed If it is determined that a complaint is real and not a prank, we would of course remove the offender from the page. We would also do everything we could to warn everyone in the Björk fan community of this person’s actions. With the combined might of multiple Björk fan communication outlets, we could pretty safely ensure that this person’s activities would be greatly hampered in the future. The club would maintain a list of these people for future reference. Also, if anyone were caught making false complaints, we would also remove these people from this service and notify the Björk fan community if deemed appropriate. In general We will also post warnings that buyers trade or buy at their own risk, and that the club does not guarantee any transaction, but merely provides the space as a service to its members. Unfortunately, these types of warnings tend to get ignored until after a problem has already developed. Your patience as we develop these procedures is appreciated. We are saddened that we have to consider these measures within a community of fans that is largely loving and embracing of each other, but it is because of that same love that we act to protect them. Our policy in the club is to avoid anything that might reflect negatively on Björk, even if by association.
